LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

9:45 AM

Day 4: Singapore Polytechnic Clubrooms

We decided to give our love bug a rest today and left it in one of the school parking lots.

Our plan of action for the day was to attack where it was harder for you guys to escape from us, in your very own club rooms.

Many of you picked today to show love to your family members.
Showcasing great team spirit, some of you also chose to show love to your various sports teams

This couple over at The BE club showed each other some love.
Everyone seems to love Bird (what a lucky girl)
And the 6 of us managed to get some love shown to us by our very own lecturer (who by the way, was neither forced nor blackmailed into doing this)

Many thanks to BE club, MM club, Sports Club, SPSU and everyone else who has shown their support to us by letting us take your picture and/or who has pledged with us

The rest of the pictures can be found via the photo badge on the right of the page.

ALSO! If any of you would like to leave a message for a loved one and haven't seen us around, haven't had the chance to approach us or are too shy to have your photograph taken in public, follow the steps listed in the entry below and drop us an email. We are looking forward to receiving loads and loads of pictures.
Much love.

Day 1 and 2: 28th July and 29th July

We've just embarked on starting our campaign to spread love throughout Singapore Polytechnic.

To everyone in Food Court 1 and 2 who took part in our campaign effort by getting your photo taken, signing our pledge or receiving and passing on our compliment cards, THANK YOU!

For those who declined to take part, where's the love guys? Just kidding, but, there is still time to change your mind.

The next area we will be hitting will be Food Courts 4 and 6 on the 31st of July.

Please show us your support. Get your photo taken to show your love towards someone or something, just fill in our compliment card and hand it to someone else and sign our pledge [avaliable in both online and physical form (look out for the girls going around school with a big heart shaped book)]

Just remember everyone! Love is good for you!

*by the way, we totally feel the SMA students who showed some love to their lecturer Capt. Raj:

As well as this couple who wrote individual messages to each other:

And everyone, please show Zul some love!

And, just in case you miss the photo badge from flickr on the right, the link to check out your own photos or if anyone has left a photo message for you is HERE

The health benefits love can bring are as follow:

• LESS BLOCKAGE IN HEART ARTERIES

The brain becomes "fired up" when talking to someone it finds attractive and sends impulses to the heart making it pound three times faster than normal. This results in increased blood supply to the body, specifically the cheeks and sexual organs, which gives us the feeling of butterflies in the stomach.

A study found that couples who spent time in close physical contact, including hugging and talking with each other, had higher levels of oxytocin — the love hormone. Women also benefited from lower blood pressure. The authors speculated that greater oxytocin levels may increase the probability of future positive interactions, so that oxytocin and partner bonding reciprocate in a positive feedback loop.
So go and give someone a hug and help your heart!

• REDUCE EFFECTS OF AGING

The endorphins produced by the body when in love increase blood flow to the skin, which helps keep it soft and smooth, and reduce the development of wrinkles. The increased supply of essential food and oxygen to skin cells when in love also give the face a pinker, healthier glow.

• HELPS FIGHT CANCER

A new study from the University of Iowa found that ovarian cancer patients with a strong sense of connection to others and satisfying relationships had more vigorous "natural killer" cell activity at the site of their tumours than those who didn't have those social ties. (These desirable white blood cells kill cancerous cells as part of the body's immune system.)

• INCREASE IMMUNITY

We may also pay a price if we don't give love. Research shows that loving acts neutralise the kind of negative emotions that adversely affect immune, endocrine and cardiovascular function.

•LOWER YOUR CHOLESTEROL LEVEL

Research has shown that expressing your feelings of affection can reduce cholesterol levels. A study in Human Communication Research found that people who wrote about their feelings of affection for significant friends, relatives, and/or romantic partners had significantly lower cholesterol levels than those that didn't.

LOVE MAKES YOU SMARTER
Falling in love induces a calming effect on the body and mind by raising levels of nerve growth for about a year. This hormone-like substance helps to restore the nervous system and improves memory by triggering the growth of new brain cells.

• LOVE MAKES YOU LIVE LONGER
Studies have indicated that a lack of love causing social isolation increases the risk of early death by up to five times. Feeling connected is essential to good health.

Research carried out at The Institute for Research on Unlimited Love, suggests that selfless love can increase our immunity by de-stressing us as well as possibly extending our life spans and improving our mental health states, including reducing depression, for those who focus their attention on giving or helping others. So why not get out and get involved in a charity project?
